Saint Francis Tulsa Tough Teams with Medalist Sports
to Improve Gran Fondo Rider Experience

TULSA, OKLA. (Mar. 17, 2014)
– Gran Fondo riders at Saint Francis Tulsa Tough will enjoy yet another significant improvement in their event experience this year.

Adding to a tradition of ongoing enhancements, Saint Francis Tulsa Tough has teamed with industry leader Medalist Sports to bring greatness to their fondos. Medalist Sports has managed some of North America’s most prestigious elite and signature events in the past two decades including the Tour DuPont, USA Cycling Professional Championships, Amgen Tour of California, Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah, USA Pro Challenge and Tour of Alberta just to name a few.

“We had record numbers in the 2013 Gran Fondos and that’s a trend we hope to continue,” said Malcolm McCollam, Saint Francis Tulsa Tough Executive Director. “As we began planning this year’s event, we wanted to raise the bar. Medalist Sports is the best in the business and by partnering with them and tapping into their expertise, we will be able to deliver a five-star quality experience to our Gran Fondo riders.”

Gran Fondo participants will notice improved course markings and directional signage, superior rest stops and enhanced law enforcement escorts and protection throughout the rides. Upgrades will be made to the start and finish areas and every fondo participant will receive a finisher medal. If the unexpected happens, state of the art emergency and disaster response teams will be in place.

“We are proud to partner with the Saint Francis Tulsa Tough and the Tulsa community,” said Chris Aronhalt, Managing Partner with Medalist Sports. “The Tulsa Tough Gran Fondo has an outstanding national reputation and is built on a solid business plan. We look forward to contributing to the overall experience for participants and the event partners.“

According to event promoters, operating an event smoothly is important not only to bring participants and spectators back, but also in maintaining a strong reputation for the host community.

“In the big picture of cycling event promoting, Tulsa Tough has done an impeccable job year in and year out,” said Lucas Euser, United Healthcare Pro Cycling Team. “From the fast paced criteriums and the legendary Cry Baby Hill to the epic Gran Fondos that offer prizes and bragging rights for finishers, Tulsa Tough has an amazing product. Bringing in Medalist Sports will put this event and the Tulsa community on the calendars of cyclists across the nation.”
